What is Federal Universal Service Fund
This fund was created by the federal government and is designed to provide discounted communication services for schools, libraries and rural healthcare facilities. All telecommunication providers nationwide are required to pay into the Federal USF. This tax is calculated as a percentage of telecommunication companies’ revenue. The rate may increase or decrease quarterly. Effective November 1, 2023, the Universal Service Contribution Factor is increasing and will result in a slight bill increase to our customers with telephone service.
